Dr. Tom Mueller has worked in Geospatial Technology for over 25 years. Advancing the field of Geospatial technology and inspiring others to see the data's potential usefulness has been his passion throughout his entire career. He was a professor of Geospatial Technology for 25 years, during which he created geospatial service-learning projects for students, built partnerships with universities and community groups, and helped lead the establishment of Gamma Sigma Theta (ГΣθ) – the National Honor Society for Geospatial Technology. In June 2024, Tom was hired as Deputy Director of the Massachusetts Bureau of Geographic Information, also known as MassGIS. He currently works on collaborative governance issues of spatial data. Tom has created geographical lessons using MAPA for students and works on educational outreach of the MAPA resource. Tom and a student won the 2019 Holodomor Research and Education Consortium Educator Award for the "Holodomor – 3 Issues to Examine" Lesson.
