Translating Ukraine Summer Institute

The Translating Ukraine Summer Institute in Wroclaw aims to remedy a shortage of Ukrainian translators in the academic and cultural sectors.

Running from June 3rd to June 15th, the program was organized by Harvard University, Columbia University, Cambridge University, the University of Alberta, Kolegium Europy Wschodniej, and New Eastern Europe.

Led by faculty and experienced professionals, this international initiative is supported by academic partners in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Poland. An intensive twelve-day training session will support emerging and mid-career translators in literary and academic translation. Three educational modules are offered: literary prose, poetry, and nonfiction/academic texts. The program emphasizes developing vital skills in Ukrainian-English translation as well as connecting a network of translators. Participants receive the chance to focus on individual projects, share their output, and create mentoring relationships.
