New in 2023-2024: Postdoctoral Fellowships

We are now offering a nine-month, benefits-eligible postdoctoral fellowship. The Mihaychuk Postdoctoral Fellowship offers a full academic year of funding to promising early-career postdoctoral scholars carrying out independent research on topics pertaining to Ukraine.

Eligibility and Benefits

HURI’s fellowships support independent research on topics pertaining to Ukraine while in residence at Harvard. In addition to a stipend to cover the cost of housing and other living expenses, the fellowships cover round-trip travel to Cambridge (if the fellow is coming from outside of New England); digital and in-person access to Harvard's vast libraries, archival materials, and resources; and participation in the rich academic life of the Institute and University.

Individuals who hold a doctorate, or its academic equivalent (eg. kandydat nauk), in a field in the humanities or social sciences and who have demonstrated a commitment to Ukrainian studies are eligible to apply.

  • The Mihaychuk Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed for junior scholars who received their doctoral degree no more than seven years prior to the fellowship start date. Current doctoral candidates whose doctoral degree will be awarded before June 1 of the current year are also eligible to apply.
Stipend: $5,000 per month | Duration: 9 months | Benefits eligible
