Private event for 2024 Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute (HUSI) students.
As an extra special treat, Sierra Salazar made us varenyky and Lviv cheesecake (BOTH BY HAND) with some help from her HUSI classmates!!!
This evening, we will also be joined by Serhii Tereshchenko, who will treat us to a short talk while we eat:
"Ukrainian fiction in translation for teaching and research"
Dr. Tereshchenko defended his dissertation on the role of science fiction in promotion of ideas of political pluralism in the USSR at Columbia University in 2023. Dr. Serhii Tereshchenko’s published research is on Ukrainian fiction and film and he is currently working on the book, Lyrical Games: Gender and Nation in Polish Trap (Palgrave McMillan) and the anthology, Cultural Paratroopers: Ukrainian Literary Organizations in the 1840s-1990 (Glagoslav).
