 Huseyin Oylupinar received his PhD from the University of Alberta (2014), in the Interdisciplinary Degree program in History and Cultural Studies, with a dissertation on "Remaking Terra cosacorum: Kozak Revival and Kozak Collective Identity in Independent Ukraine." Subsequently, he taught courses on Turkish diplomatic history and foreign policy at the University of Economics‒Izmir (Turkey). His areas of interest include Ukrainian/Turkish/Tatar relations, collective memory and international relations, collective memory and construction of cultural and political space. While at HURI Oylupinar will research "Fate of the Crimean Tatars: The First and the Last Annexation in Perspective."
