Don Ostrowski is a lecturer at the Harvard Extension School, where he has taught courses in history and methodology for 40 years. His publications include *Muscovy and the Mongols: Cross-Cultural Influences on the Steppe Frontier, 1304-1589* (Cambridge University Press, 1998); *The Povest′ vremennykh let: An Interlinear Collation and Paradosis* (Harvard University Press, 2003); *Europe, Byzantium and the “Intellectual Silence” of Rus′ Culture* (ARC Humanities, 2018), *Who Wrote That? Authorship Controversies from Moses to Sholokhov* (Cornell University Press, 2020); and *Russia in the Early Modern World: The Continuity of Change* (Lexington Books, 2022). Most recently, he published *The Ruling Families of Rus: Clan, Family and Kingdom* (London: Reaktion Books, 2023), co-authored with Christian Raffensperger. He lives in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he serves on the Historical Commission and is an avid chess player.
