## About the Lecture

This lecture presents highlights from the forthcoming book by Dr. Tatiana Tairova-Yakovleva, *Ivan Teodorovitch Bohun*, dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian colonel and political figure of the 17th century. Based on substantial archival material, the author revises the main stages of his biography. The author shows Bohun’s biography in the context of the formation of the Hetmanate, including its domestic and foreign policy. Why did Bohun engage in conflict with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, what were his political ideals, who were his friends and allies? What did he look like? Tairova-Yakovleva will also introduce new findings regarding Bohun’s relationship with Bohdan Khmelnytsky and his acute conflict with Boyar Sheremetev.
